Batia Magal
Batia Magal’s work has developed along various paths, all of which converge and fuse into a very personal and feminine statement. The basic calligraphic drawing of the female figure or a flower-filled vase is the centerpiece that forms the structural basis of her work. To these the brilliant washes of lively colors act as a counterpoint, with the deeper and warmer hues evoking the luminosity of medieval stained-glass windows.

More recently, Magal has introduced fabric textures and prints of a seemingly unconnected nature into her work, forming collages where the elements of drawing, print and fabric-texture maintain a balance that emphasizes the works' structural composition.

Born in Israel in 1953, Batia Magal displayed since childhood a considerable talent for drawing and an all-embracing interest in art. She went on to study at the ‘Avni Art Institute’, where she was influenced by such well-known artists as Streichman and Wexler, to name but two.
